Thanks Hobie,
Your works are very interesting, very vibrant, very evocative, very moody, very transporting. I like when you talk about the power of the broad vista but then the miniscule, the object and the window – the polar thoughts. When I was a little kid I was supposed to be doing maths, but found a piece of glitter in the palm of my hand, and in that tiny piece of glitter I could see reflected the whole street scene outside the classroom window. So at the age of about 7 years I have been fascinated with the ability to see the whole world though a miniature window. It was a really strange observation that has followed me all my life. I get that feeling in your works. They seem realistic, and they are only the size of a wall painting, but through them is the whole world – they have a sort of deep thought, an inward looking attitude, but at the same time giving all. They remind me of a point in a music performance, when somehow all time is suspended, but all of the before and the future is in the supension. But there is no pointlike that! It takes no time, but it takes all time!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
